With OVpay we are introducing the new check-in and check-out in public transport for travelers who travel second class and without a discount or subscription. How does OVpay work? Very easy: you hold your contactless debit card, credit card or mobile against the OVpay card reader on the bus and - bleep! - you are checked in. After your trip you check out in the same way, with the same pass. It's that simple. It is similar to contactless payment in the supermarket. The difference: you also check out at your destination.
Make sure you have contactless payment enabled and that you remove your card from your wallet when checking in and out. This way you can check in with the pass you want.
Make sure you have enough balance on your bankaccount. Are you traveling by bus, tram or metro? Then you need at least €4.00. But are you traveling by train? Then €20.00 is the minimum amount.
In all the public transport in the Netherlands. You can check in and out with:
- contactless debits card from ABN AMRO, ASN bank, bunq, ING, Rabobank, Knab, Regiobank, SNS or Triodos
- contactless credit cards from Mastercard and Visa (issued by ICS)
- smartphones that are set up with contactless payment with a card from above-mentioned debit and credit cards. Also with Apple Pay and Google Wallet
- a foreign contactless debit or credit cards from Maestro, V pay, Mastercard or Visa
For travellers without an OV-chipkaart who would still like to travel by bus cheaply. You check in and out with your debit or credit card, also on your phone.
Children (4 to 11 years old) travel for free if accompanied by an adult (18 years or older).
A maximum of 3 children aged 4 to 11 years may travel for free per adult. Children up to 3 years old always travel for free on public transport.
Do you want to pay for multiple people? You can easily buy multiple e-tickets in advance in the
9292 app or the
Tranzer app.
You don't have to buy anything and you don't have to sign up. You can simply check in and out with your debit or credit card, also via mobile. You pay the national boarding rate of € 1.08 and the price per kilometer.
